This structure was built as a two-story framed house in 1908 by Frank M. Cimmerman, assistant postmaster and real estate man. He lived in the house until 1917, when it was purchased by Louis M. and Emma Hammerschmidt. Louis Hammerschmidt was an attorney and city judge. The house was drastically remodeled in 1925.
