<Chauncey N. Lawton House>
405 West Wayne
- Date: 1872
- Style: Italian Villa
- District: Downtown Historic Registry
The Chauncey Lawton House is a fine example of the Italian Villa style, exhibiting most of the characteristics of that style as described by acclaimed nineteenth-century American architect Alexander Jackson Downing in his book Architecture of Country Houses (1859). Located on the border of downtown's central business district, the Lawton House is both a local landmark and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The most distinctive feature is a three-story tower. A wrought-iron fence lines the front of the lot at the sidewalk.
