Lizzie, Bertham and Bessie George purchased this lot from Christopher Fassnacht in 1891 and had the house built within the same year. Bertha was a stenographer for the Studebaker Corporation, Bessie was a bookkeeper for the South Bend Tribune, and Lizzie's late husband, Charles George, owned a grocery store. By 1908, Edward Twomey, the manager for a life insurance firm, and his wife Catherine, had purchased the home.
