Annie and Gilbert Elliot purchased lot 63 and half of 62 in 1882 from Edward Chapin and built this house by 1883. Gilbert worked for the MC Railroad as a passenger ticket agent, and Annie worked at the Tribune Store in the 1890s. They raised their two children, Lizzie and Gilbert. Annie Elliott lived in the house until 1908. Architect Ennis Austin resided here from 1914 until 1916.
