An architect with the firm Austin and Shambleau, Ennis R. Austin built this home in 1909. Austin and Shambleau designed many residential and commercial buildings in South Bend. Ennis Austin lived in the house until 1913, when it was purchased by Carl A. Ross, president of Burnoil Engine Company.
