Real estate moguls Hammond and Whitcomb built this house in 1910 and sold it to Warner Wise in 1912. He rented it out until 1919, when it was sold to Henry W. Smith, a secretary-treasurer of Northern Indiana Transit Company. Mr. Smith lived there until 1939, at which time he began renting it out. He eventually sold the house in 1951.
