Albert Place, a night watchman at Singers Manufacturing Company, purchased the lot in 1903 and built the house in 1904. Mr. Place sold it in 1907 to Patrick Walsh, an employee at Oliver Company, who in turn sold it to Joseph Woodward, the owner of Woodward Pattern Works. Mr. Woodward used it as a rental.
