This magnificent fieldstone, brick, and half-timber house was designed by Wilson B. Parker and Ennis Austin in 1898 for Olive and Joseph Birdsell. It is a large three-story house with a full ball room on the third floor. The Birdsell family came from New York to South Bend and established the Birdsell Manufacturing Company in 1870. Joseph Birdsell's father, John, was the inventor of a clover huller.
