Victor Freeman, a salesman for the Studebaker Corporation, and his wife, Anna, had this house built in 1924. They stayed there until 1932, when they sold the property to Adolph R. Mayerfield, who was the proprietor and owner of Newman's, a women's clothing store in South Bend. He used the house as a rental until 1944, when it was purchased by Edith and Charles Crum.
