This house was constructed in 1890 for John and Minnie Hans. Minnie was a German immigrant and John worked independently as a blacksmith, and later for South Bend Chilled Plow. They raised their four children, Marge, Valentine, Theodore and Louis. John resided at this address into the 1930s. By 1932, the house had been converted into two apartments.
