F. J. Lewis and Mary Meyer purchased the property and built the house in 1891. Louis attended Northwestern Law School and became a well-known attorney for several railway and stone companies in the area. Their daughter, Edna, was raised in this Queen Anne house and later resided there as an adult with her husband, Harry McCarty, and their children, Edna, Louis and Mary Louise.
