This house was built in 1899 for Washington P. Harman, a bookkeeper for Singer, and his wife, Anna. Their daughter, Effie, was a music teacher who also lived there. Beginning in 1908, the property was rented to a few families including the Kerr family. James P. Kerr was an engineer from Scotland.
