Hewlett G. and Charlotte (Lottie) Davis had this house built between 1884 and 1885. Hewlett was a shipping clerk and later became an executive with the Oliver Chilled Plow Company. He worked for Oliver until 1922. They raised their two children, H. Gail Davis, Jr., who inherited the house after the death of his parents, and Lorene Davis Craven.
