Ernest W. Young designed this house for F. Lewis and Sarah Stedman between 1912 and 1914. F. L. Stedman was the treasurer of the Indiana Building and Loan Association, a partner in the sporting goods store, Camper and Stedman, and a gunsmith. In 1920, John and Virginia O'Brien purchased the Colonial Revival home and lived there until 1948. John was the vice-president of the South Bend Lathe Works.
