This home was built in 1905 for Homer Merritt Taggart, a realtor. He had come to South Bend in 1880 to manage a transfer business. After a short period of time, he left the transfer business and became a real estate agent. The Taggart family retained ownership of the house until selling it to Pearlie Lowe in 1978.
