The Rushton Apartment building was designed and built in 1906 in the Neo-Classical style of apartment buildings familiar to many who have visited Chicago. This building was designed by local architects W.W. Schneider and Ennis Austin. The apartments were meant for single men that had arrived in South Bend in search of work, but later it housed teachers from Central High School across the street. It has been repurposed from efficiency apartments into modern apartments.
