Christian Grimm, a German native, purchased this lot in 1902. By 1906, he had built this house for himself and his wife, Flora. Grimm owned and operated a butcher shop located at 630 Portage Avenue, also located within the district. Christian and Flora Grimm lived in the American Foursquare house until their deaths in 1955 and 1956.
