In 1896, George Charles Foster had this house built. Mr. Foster was employed by the Vandalia Railroad as chief clerk. The property was purchased by William Inwood in 1919. Mr. Inwood, a grocer and former letter carrier, was the owner of Inwood's Grocery and Variety Store.
